The Fear of Getting It Wrong (And How It Quietly Holds Us Back)
Anyone else live with that low-level fear of getting it wrong?
If you’re like me, or one of those quieter, more thoughtful types, you probably suffer with this a lot. Even the tiniest thing can feel huge when your brain likes to replay conversations, decisions, and “what ifs” on a loop.
Sometimes I’ll lie in bed thinking about something I should have said. Something I shouldn’t have said. Something I’m putting off. Something I’m scared to do. Something I didn’t do. Something I might do, or something I should do. And suddenly it feels a gazillion times heavier than it probably is 🤯
Maybe you recognise yourself in some of this:
You don’t send a feedback form after working with a client. Not because you don’t care, but because you care too much. What if they say something negative?
You don’t post on social media, even though you know the visibility would help your business. Because once it’s out there, it’s open to judgement. People might misunderstand you, or worse, say nothing at all.
You sit on an idea for a new service, or a workshop. You keep telling yourself you’ll do it and talk about it “soon”, when really you’re scared it won’t land, or that it’ll fail publicly.
And sometimes, in quieter moments, you wonder if you’ve made a mistake working for yourself at all. Not because you don’t love what you do, but because it feels really hard making every decision alone.
I see these fears all the time in women running their own businesses. And I have them too.
The difference isn’t just confidence, or bravery, and it definitely isn’t having everything figured out.
The difference is having a trusted space where you can say these things out loud. So you can get the fears out of your head, off your chest, and move forward more quickly.
When you’re surrounded by people who really get it and speak your language, the fears don’t disappear, but you feel less alone. You can share what’s on your mind, hear “me too”, and suddenly the thing that felt ginormous feels manageable again.
You feel lighter. Clearer. Braver. Not because the fear has gone, but because you’re no longer carrying it all by yourself.
That’s what members have inside the Pink Coral Community. A members-only space to talk more honestly and more deeply about business life. Not just the highlights. Not just the wins. But the doubts, the stuck moments, and the “is it just me?” thoughts that so many of us quietly carry around in our heads.
It’s where we talk about the real things that shape our businesses – confidence, visibility, decision-making, boundaries, marketing, selling, and actually start tackling them together.
If you’re feeling stuck, worried, or questioning yourself, I want you to know that you’re not alone, and you’re not doing it wrong.
Growth is really uncomfortable. It asks us to try, to risk not getting it perfect. But I really believe it comes from stepping slightly outside your comfort zone and doing the thing anyway – especially when you’re supported while you do it.
Which, honestly, is something I’m reminding myself of right now too.
So… time for me to take my own advice 😂
