Meet Emily from Emily Anderson VA, an incredible virtual assistant who loves a spreadsheet and giving small business owners their time back.
Over to you Emily:
Hi, I’m Emily, a Virtual Assistant providing business and admin support to small business owners to tackle those tasks they never seem to get crossed-off their to-do list and provide those extra hours in their day they can never quite find. No task is too big or small - whether it's email or diary management, social media scheduling, simple website design, email marketing, or anything else that someone might want to delegate!
Your story.
I’m an organiser, baker, travel lover, sun worshiper, dog mum.
Last year I went through a period of bad mental health and I was forced to take some time to assess what was and wasn't making me happy in my life. I had never found a job that I loved, something that made me feel really fulfilled.
I have always loved the idea of running my own business but always thought “well what could I do, I'm not an expert, what could I offer?". But I realised there was a need where small businesses owners needed an extra person to support them so they don't have to do it all alone. I took it for granted that I was great at organising, love administration and a tidy spreadsheet, but in reality, a lot of people don't have these traits! I value diversity and variety in my work so the prospect of working with a range of business owners was really appealing.
Fast forward to 1st January 2025... I launched Emily Anderson VA!
What do you love most about what you do?
An easy one - the people. I have met so many incredible and inspirational people since starting my business. Business owners, entrepreneurs, solopreneurs... I have learnt more from the people I have met and my clients than I ever could have imagined when I started my business.
A proud moment in your business journey so far?
I am so proud of how I have grown my business in the last 6 months - I've worked with 13 different clients and am currently working with 6 on a regular monthly basis.
If you were a biscuit, which one would you be? 😂
The hardest question of them all....! I think I'd be a triple chocolate chip cookie! Partly because these are one of my favourites, but also because they have a lot of variety in them (3 different types of chocolate!) - and I love variety in life - I'm always trying new hobbies, starting different crafting projects, and trying to pack a lot (some may say too much) into my week! I also love to feed people, I'll always put others before myself, and a triple chocolate chip cookie is comforting, and I believe as a friend I'm that comforting presence too. 🍪
A few words about your experience in the Pink Coral community so far.
Pink Coral has been such an unexpected but absolutely wonderful part of my life as a small business owner. I connected with Nikki on Instagram over our love for "Friends" and cups of tea! As soon as I met up with her, I knew that she was my kind of person... so I knew that Pink Coral would be a collection of "my people" if Nikki had brought them together.
And I wasn't wrong...! Networking was something I hadn't thought about at all before launching my business, but soon learnt it was something I was obliged to do - so I went to the evening events, entered a room full of strangers and tried to "sell" myself while making small talk.
But joining Pink Coral has turned networking on its head for me, and I am always so excited to go to Cuppa & Connect ! I love catching up with like-minded business women, not feeling like I'm the quiet one in the corner in a room full of over-confident businessmen (a generalisation I know...!)
But now with Pink Coral, even after only 4 months, I feel like I have made more genuine proper connections than I have made in the majority of my corporate jobs over the last 8 years...
So a huge thank you to Nikki for creating this incredible community 🪸
